With the title of Senior Vice President Sustainable Materials and Circularity, Fabien Gaboriaud is overall responsible for Michelin’s strategic investments in environmentally sustainable materials and circularity. Gaboriaud joined Michelin in 2009 and has more than 40 years of combined experience in materials research. His career began with a PhD in physical chemistry which led him to a research position at France’s National Research and Science Center in Nancy, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique.
Since 2017 he has been material research director with the responsibility to develop material related innovations for tire applications and for the new high tech materials division, in particular within the domains of sustainable materials, hydrogen, medical and flexible composites. On July 1, 2023, he joined the high tech materials division as Senior Vice President Sustainable Materials and Circularity. In his new role he is responsible for coordinating and orchestrating the company’s internal and external strategies in the area.
After attending his first meeting with the board of Enviro, he says he is very proud of the new board assignment.
“I really appreciated the exchange with the other board members and our first meeting,” he says.
Gaboriaud describes Michelin’s commitment to Enviro as very strong, as evidenced by both his appointment to Enviro’s board and Michelin’s ownership. When it comes to what he can contribute to Enviro, he has no hesitation.
“I don’t take a board position to fail, but will put all my energy into this. I am a distinctly competitive person who does not want to follow. My goal is to help with my skills to develop the right strategy and to help Enviro to win,” Fabien Gaboriaud says.
